Mehndi & Jago · London

Where The Week Begins.

Mehndi DJ for London and the UK. Dholki-friendly sound, songs the aunties actually know, and a room warm enough for three generations — without ever tipping into nightclub.

— The Difference

The mehndi sets the tone for everything.

It's the first night the two families really share a room — and the easiest one to get wrong. Play it like a club night and you lose the elders by nine. Play it too safe and the cousins drift to their phones. The mehndi needs a DJ who can hold both, gently.

Prit Nasha has opened wedding weeks for twenty years — in gardens, marquees, family homes and banqueting suites across London and beyond. He knows when to step back for the dholki circle, when the boliyan want space, and exactly when the room is ready to turn.

You book the artist directly — no agency, no substitute DJ. The person who plans your mehndi is the person behind the decks when it starts.

The Evening

How A Mehndi Flows.

01

The welcome

Guests arrive over an hour or more. The music holds a warm, unhurried register — present enough to set the tone, soft enough that three generations can actually talk.

02

Dholki & boliyan

When the family circle forms, the DJ steps back and supports — levels for live dholki, the right recorded tracks between rounds, and no fighting the tradition for attention.

03

The build

As the evening turns, so does the music — dholki rhythms into Punjabi classics into the songs the cousins have been waiting for. Gradual, readable, never jarring.

04

The send-off

A mehndi rarely runs to 2am — it ends warm. The close of the night is programmed, not abandoned, so the room empties full of the week still to come.

FAQ

Mehndi Questions.

Can you play at a house or garden mehndi?

Yes — homes, gardens, marquees and halls. The rig is sized to the space, the volume respects the setting (and the neighbours), and setup is arranged around your day, not the other way round.

We have live dholki — how does that work with a DJ?

The dholki leads, the DJ supports. Levels and mics are handled so the circle carries the room, with the right recorded tracks between rounds and a seamless handover when the dancing starts.

Do you also cover jago nights?

Yes — jago, mehndi, maiyan and ladies' sangeet formats are all familiar territory. Tell Prit the tradition your family follows and the night is built around it.

Can family members make requests on the night?

Of course — mehndis run on requests. Do-not-play lists are honoured just as carefully.

Is a mehndi booking cheaper than a wedding reception?

Pricing reflects the setup, hours and location of each event — and multi-function bookings across the wedding week are always priced as a package. Enquire with your dates for an exact quote.
