The bhangra song we play most at weddings is Heer by Jags Klimax featuring Sarbjit Kaur. It played in 109 of 181 wedding and private-event sets since late 2020. Diljit Dosanjh's Sweetoo is second with 99, then Gupz Sehra's Label Black and Jasmine Sandlas's Sip Sip with 85 each.
We went back through Prit Nasha's Serato history, every set since the end of 2020, and counted how many weddings, family functions and private parties each bhangra and Punjabi song made it into. Only songs that actually played for at least a minute count.
That history holds 526 sets. 181 of them were weddings, pre-wedding nights and private events rather than club nights, and those 181 are the sets counted here.
How we counted the plays
Each song counts once per set, however many times it was dropped back in. Clean, dirty, intro and remix versions of the same record count as one song, credited to the original artist rather than the DJ edit. Bollywood film songs and Punjabi hip-hop are kept out, so this is a bhangra and Punjabi dancefloor list.
For "when", we looked at where each song usually played in the night: the first third of the set, the middle, or the last third.
The 20 most-played bhangra songs at weddings
- Jags Klimax ft. Sarbjit Kaur, Heer. 109 of 181 sets. The middle of the night, when the bhangra block is properly going. The bhangra record we play more than any other.
- Diljit Dosanjh, Sweetoo. 99 sets. Early to middle. One of our favourite ways into the first bhangra block.
- Gupz Sehra, Label Black. 85 sets. The middle.
- Jasmine Sandlas ft. Intense, Sip Sip. 85 sets. Early to middle, often in the first run of Punjabi songs.
- Panjabi MC, Picha Ni Chad De. 84 sets. The middle.
- Garry Sandhu ft. Jasmine Sandlas, Illegal Weapon. 80 sets. Early to middle. The original single, not the film remake.
- DJ H ft. Lehmber Hussainpuri, Ishq Brandy. 79 sets. Firmly the middle.
- DJ Dips ft. Kaka Bhainiawala, Lehmber Hussainpuri and Miss Pooja, Gerra De De. 78 sets. Middle to late. We rarely open with it.
- Vicky, Top Notch Gabru. 76 sets. Early to middle.
- Juggy D, Sohniye. 71 sets. The middle. A UK classic from the mid-2000s.
- Manny Sandu and Tegi Pannu, Schedule. 71 sets. Early.
- Jaz Dhami ft. Yo Yo Honey Singh, High Heels. 69 sets. Middle to late.
- Lehmber Hussainpuri, Sadi Gali. 69 sets. Middle to late.
- Kam Dhillon, Aaja Ni Aaja. 68 sets. Works anywhere, leans late.
- Panjabi MC, Moorni. 66 sets. Early. One of our most reliable openers.
- Sharry Mann, 3 Peg. 65 sets. Later in the night.
- Diljit Dosanjh, Vibe. 62 sets. Early.
- Imran Khan, Amplifier. 60 sets. Early to middle.
- RDB ft. Metz and Trix, Aaja Mahi. 59 sets. Late. Not once in the first third.
- Panjabi MC, Mundian To Bach Ke. 59 sets. Early to middle.
When the bhangra plays at a wedding reception
Bhangra lives in the middle of the night. Most of this list lands in the middle third, after the warm-up and the R&B have brought the family onto the floor. If your bhangra starts the moment the first dance ends, it has nowhere left to go.
Old and new sit side by side. Moorni, Mundian To Bach Ke and Sohniye are UK classics. Schedule, Vibe and Top Notch Gabru are recent. Both halves made the top 20, because a wedding floor is three generations at once. Leave out either half and someone sits down.
Some songs are closers. Aaja Mahi played in 59 of these sets and never once in the first third. Two more songs just outside the top 20 behave the same way: Punjabi Hit Squad's Hai Hai, in its garage mix, and Panjabi MC's Bheer each landed in the first third only once. They are the records for when the floor is already full.
Bollywood crosses over. Kala Chashma (66 sets) and Tera Rang Balle Balle (61 sets) would both sit inside this top 20 on numbers alone. They are Bollywood film songs, so they belong on a different list, but they live inside our bhangra block all the time.
Some of these names are personal. Prit Nasha has shared bills with Juggy D and DJ Dips, and in 2010 he DJed the set for Imran Khan, the "Amplifier" singer. Their records are still in the top 20, which tells you how long a good bhangra song lasts.
Live dhol with a bhangra set
At a 2025 wedding at a Gunnersbury Park venue we built two dhol drummers into the production, and the middle of this list is where live dhol works best. If you are booking dhol, tell your DJ early so you can plan together where it comes in. Our baraat guide covers the handover.
Building your own bhangra list
Pick five must-plays, not fifty. Tell your DJ who the floor is: mostly older family, mostly cousins, or both. Give a do-not-play list and expect it to be followed. The rest is the DJ's job on the night.

Questions about bhangra at weddings
What is the most played bhangra song at weddings?
In Prit Nasha's Serato history it is Heer by Jags Klimax featuring Sarbjit Kaur, played in 109 of 181 wedding and private-event sets since late 2020. Diljit Dosanjh's Sweetoo is second, in 99.
When should the bhangra start at a wedding reception?
In our sets most bhangra plays in the middle third of the night, after a warm-up and an R&B section. Openers like Moorni and Schedule go early. Big closers like RDB's Aaja Mahi never went in the first third once in 59 sets.
Should old-school bhangra and new Punjabi songs be mixed?
Yes. Our top 20 has UK classics such as Mundian To Bach Ke, Moorni and Sohniye next to recent songs like Schedule, Vibe and Top Notch Gabru. A wedding floor covers three generations, so it needs both.
Method: Counted from Prit Nasha's Serato history, 526 sets from 2020–2026. This list uses the 181 that were weddings, pre-wedding nights and private events: every set where at least a fifth of the music was desi, plus every private booking in our job records, with club residency nights taken out. A song counts once per set, and only if it played for at least a minute. Versions of the same song are merged and credited to the original artist.
